My Review of How Not to Chaperon a Lady
I’ve been lucky to get a chance to read the story of Hope Brookes and Luke (The Marquess Next Door) so I enjoyed this story all the more.
Don’t get me wrong — it can easily be read as a standalone story. You don’t need any background information on the Brookes family to understand what happens in How Not to Chaperon a Lady. It’s just that I’d read about Charity Brookes from Hope’s point of view and I have an added perspective.
Virginia Heath is one of my favorite authors. She writes stories that can keep you turning the pages until the end. Of course, being a historical romance there are plenty of spicy, steamy scenes. But Heath’s writing has the power to make you laugh and cry along with the characters.
Charity Brookes and Griffith Philpot have always had a rough relationship so their attraction for each other during a singing tour is inexplicable. However, this is just a sign of things to come. It gets so much more exciting in the second half of the book even though you could say that the “action” has taken place earlier.
How Not to Chaperon a Lady is exciting, witty, steamy, and even heartwarming. Now, where will you find such a combination!
Heath’s writing sparkles and compels you to keep reading and stop real life from intruding. I was so sorry when the book ended and I had to say goodbye to Charity and Griffith (with happy tears because it ends beautifully).

About Virginia Heath
When Virginia Heath was a little girl it took her ages to fall asleep, so she made up stories in her head to help pass the time while she was staring at the ceiling. As she got older, the stories became more complicated, sometimes taking weeks to get to the happy ending. Then one day, she decided to embrace the insomnia and start writing them down. Twenty books and two Romantic Novel of the Year Award nominations later, and it still takes her forever to fall asleep.
