[Book Review] The Viking Chief’s Marriage Alliance by Lucy Morris

I’m happy to be a part of the blog tour for The Viking Chief’s Marriage Alliance by Lucy Morris. I enjoy historical romances and I’ve had the opportunity to read many good books by being part of Rachel’s book tours.

Here’s my review of The Viking Chief’s Marriage Alliance:

My Review of The Viking Chief’s Marriage Alliance

I simply love reading historical romances, especially steamy ones. They make me forget my worries and pains for a bit as I get lost in the story.

The Viking Chief’s Marriage Alliance begins with an introduction into Gyda’s mind (female MC) and how she plans to secure her future after her husband’s death. I related to her efforts to appear independent and strong in the face of troubles. As a woman, I understood her need to hide her vulnerability and weakness lest greedy men try to take advantage of her.

The Viking Chief’s Marriage Alliance is tender and stormy by turns, switching from Gyda’s perspective to Thornstein’s (male MC) perspective. There’s an instant attraction that both try to fight off–and I love reading about such turbulent relationships.

I could not fault Thornstein’s point of view w.r.t women considering his past but I felt he was unnecessarily harsh on Gyda. That she had to take matters into her own hands to further their relationship was a bit much!

Nevertheless, the smooth writing, beautiful descriptions of locations, clothes, and food, and the steady pace of the story made me enjoy it a lot. The description of Viking society, class distinctions, and the comparison of the way of living of different groups of people was well-done. My limited knowledge of the Vikings comes from my reading of a few books, but I was able to follow the narrative easily.

If you love historical romances, don’t miss this one!

(I received a copy of the book from Rachel at Rachel’s Random Tours with a request for an honest review.)
