My Thoughts

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Explaining to children where they come from is particularly difficult for parents. Personally, I struggle with age-appropriate language and determining how much to tell.

This book, with its bright, vivid, and full-page illustrations is a good start.

Although I felt that many of the words (e.g. picturesque, genesis, palpated, amniotic) were too difficult for a child to understand, the overall approach to explaining how a baby is conceived is good.

I hope the author will write a sequel explaining why cats and dogs have many offspring at at time, whereas humans don’t. My child is looking for an answer to that!

(I received a review copy from Book Sirens in exchange for an honest review.)

(from Goodreads)

Explaining a child’s beginning, is sometimes difficult and considered taboo. This book is an honest, eye opening, and humorous, mother’s attempt to satisfy her daughter’s curiosity, of where babies come from?
