Winning the Game of Work: Career Happiness and Success on Your Own Terms
Publication Date: April 10, 2020
Genre: Non-Fiction/Career Coaching Guide
Work is not a straightforward game to be played by the rules. To get the success you want, you have to understand the bigger picture. Winning the Game of Work helps you understand what you want and gives you tips to create a strategy to get it.
Written in simple, lucid language, the book is divided into 4 parts, each with a few stories about people the author has interviewed. Her writing shows the amount of research and experience that has gone into writing this book.
There are plenty of examples, anecdotes, quotes, and diagrams to explain various concepts. I like the author’s use of lists and questions to help readers decide what they want.
I could relate to much of what the book was talking about because I’ve faced a few disappointments at the workplace where I thought I had been dealt with unfairly. I wish I had read this book earlier–I would have known how to handle those situations better!
I think the book is relevant in the current situation with job loss and office politics. It will help the reader get over workplace toxicity and channel his/her energy into exploring new avenues.
Thank you to the author and Shannon at R&R Book Tours for my review copy!
