What Did I Read Last Week? (Jun 8 – Jun 14)

I read 2 contemporary fiction books and a parenting book last week!

I think I read best when I have several deadlines approaching fast! 🙂

Which books did I read last week?

The Beauty of Broken Things by Victoria Connelly

The Beauty of Broken Things cover

My first impression about this book was right! It did turn out to be a sensitive, empathetic book about healing from a traumatic experience, finding friendship, and learning to integrate into society.

Review to be posted on June 17.

Parenting With Purpose by Aileen Jarvis & Rowan Roffe

Parenting with Purpose cover

I’m so glad the author approached me with a request to review this parenting book. It has a friendly tone and clear writing. It made me realize I was doing some things which were causing more damage than good to my 4-year-old. The only thing I disagreed with was the author’s negative view of co-sleeping, a concept that is common and acceptable in my country.

Return Addresses by Michael McLellan

Return Addresses cover

I was almost about to give this book up because the tour dates were advanced and I wasn’t sure if I would have enough time to read it. As it happens, I read it in one night because it is REALLY GOOD.

It’s a gritty, real portrayal of a 14-year-old falling prey to the broken foster system in America and fighting it in his own way.

Review to be posted on June 18.

Which books am I currently reading?

Power Divided (The Evolutionaries #1) by S. Behr

I’d almost forgotten that I had signed up for this blog tour organized by Booktamins. It reminds me that I need to organize things better and keep up with my blog tour signups and review requests.

This is a fantasy + science fiction book and it has a 4.67 rating on Goodreads.
